My CBD Routine
Please note, I am NOT recommending to take marijuana or cannabis, this is also not an encouragement to take any form of substances as a solution to health problems.
I, for one, am excited CBD is coming onto the wellness scene. As a creative and a freelancer, I often face times of high energy and creative bursts coupled with extreme fits of anxiety and stress. I’m proud of the work I do and I feel inspired every day to write content and create, but job stressors and the growing pains of being your own boss can weigh me down. I’ve turned to CBD, and let me tell you - it’s amazing.
CBD seems to be everywhere now - in drinks, bath products, foods, oils, creams and more - but it’s important to note that CBD doesn’t get you high. Most CBD and especially the ones you find on the bottles of kombucha or at your local coffee shop is a non-psychoactive.
So, what is CBD?
To put it simply, CBD is a chemical compound found in the Cannabis plant. CBD on its own doesn’t contain THC, which is also found in Cannabis and is the chemical that gets you “high.”
There are two kinds of CBD - Hemp CBD and Cannabis CBD. Hemp is lighter and contains no THC; it’s the one found on smoothie bowls and in coffees. Cannabis CBD is stronger and may contain THC; it’s only available at medical dispensaries and in some shops online. Ultimately, it comes down to your reason for using CBD. I use this principle for everything that I nurture and my mind and body with - it’s listening to your intuition. That gut feeling inside of you that really knows what’s up. For this reason, I use THC-free CBD to help care for my body and mind.
Studies have shown that CBD can really benefit your overall health and well-being. Mowellens, a leading CBD wellness brand lists the following benefits on their website:

Sounds pretty wonderful, right?
How I use CBD.
I use CBD to help reduce stress, boost my creative and mellow out. I’ve battled with sleep problems for years. Not only am I a terribly light sleeper but also a night owl, that combo basically means little to no sleep. Once I began incorporating CBD into my nightly routine I mellowed out a lot quicker and have more restful nights of sleep.
I occasionally use CBD in my coffee. It helps me to stay cool under the pressures of managing my own business. Freelance work comes with a lot of surprises and being able to stay calm helps me to remain professional and focus on my work.
Where you can get some of your own.
Good news, Hemp CBD is offered in a lot of the local health stores. I would also recommend going to an organic coffee shop and trying out CBD in a latte to see if you like it.
I’m obsessed with Mowellens and use their Inner Peace CBD in my superfood coffee as it is THC-free and very mellow. They also have a super delicious CBD honey, topical oil, and body cream.
I’m excited to do some more research on CBD and see how I feel after a year of using it. The one thing I’ve heard from everyone who’s tried it and I have to agree is that you won’t start really noticing a change until you begin using it consistently. Start small and get curious!
